Friday. September 21, 6pm–8:30pm
Instructor: Vicky Zomenou
Design your own sterling silver jewelry!
This class will introduce you to jewelry making using the lost wax technique of casting. Even today, casting is the most accurate and reliable technique of reproducing complex shapes in silver with all the fine details of the original pattern. It is a combination of art and metallurgy.
Learn techniques and tools used to form and carve the wax. Explore ideas for jewelry forms with the help of your instructor. Sculpt your jewelry designs with wax in order to create earrings, pendants or rings.
Once finished, your wax models will be carefully packaged and posted to a professional casting house where they will be cast in Sterling Silver. Upon return, instructor Vicky Zomenou will polish and finish each piece before you pick them up from ArtEast.
Wear your very own beautiful jewelry & be proud of your creativity!
Class includes 2 wax models weighing up to 1.3dwt (pennyweight). Weighing will be done with an electronic scale at the end of the class. This is covered in the the $45 supply fee included in the cost of class. Extra jewels or weight will be available for $23 up to 0.6dwt or pennyweight.
