This basic oil painting class will offer the fundamentals of oil painting from still life and/or classroom interior. The process includes: toning the canvas, preparing a drawing, underpainting and painting successive layers until desired completion is achieved. Basic paint handling and brushwork will be discussed (e.g. direct painting, stumbling, glazing, wet onto dry versus wet into wet). Color mixing and properties of light and color are discussed. Everyone is welcome. No prior painting experience is required.

About the Instructor

Brandy Agun is a contemporary representational painter who enjoys painting figures, interiors, and still life. She studied at Gage Academy and the Georgetown Atelier, graduating in 2012. Her work focuses on shape, color, and composition in oil paint. She teaches and paints full time. Brandy has taught at Gage Academy of the Fine Arts, has been a teaching assistant at the Georgetown Atelier, and currently teaches at Kirkland Arts Center, Northwest Art Center and ArtEast.
