Discover the Range of acrylic gels and mediums that  can be used to create image transfers. Explore how to transfer laser copies of your own artwork, drawings or photographs onto the surface of your paintings or collages. Learn how to create Image Transfer Skins and Paint Skins. Gain a broad understanding of product, material, method, tips and tricks. These techniques are an excellent way to develop transparent and translucent imagery, text and texture, incorporating layers into your paintings, collages or mixed media works.

All products graciously provided by Golden Artist Colors. Most other supplies and tools provided by Instructor. Supply list attached.

Prerequisite: No prerequisites. Class designed for all experience levels.

Note: Classes must meet a minimum enrollment of students. Unfortunately, workshops with less than minimum enrollment may be cancelled one week prior to start date.

About the Instructor

Barbara De Pirro is a painter, sculptor, installation artist and educator, sponsored by Golden Artist Colors, Inc. She works both two and three dimensionally, translating her concepts from one media to the other. Her expansive knowledge of acrylic, combined equally with her broad understanding of a full range of media opens the door to vast possibilities. All of this, she generously shares with other artists in her workshops and lectures. De Pirro’s artwork has been commissioned and exhibited in Museums, Galleries, Sculpture Parks, Art Centers and Public Art Organizations. She is a member of Northwest Designer Craftsman, SurfaceDesign Association and National Basketry Organization. She has received both a Grant and Fellowship Residency through Artist Trust. Additionally De Pirro’s artwork has been published in multiple articles, publications and books.

Supply List

Artists should bring the following:

  • Pre-painted or collaged mat board, illustration board, canvas board, masonite or wood panels (6-
    8 pieces, no larger than 10”) We will be transferring images directly into these surfaces.
  • Personal imagery, artwork, photography or drawings; Black/White, color copies (laser prints not inkjet prints)
  • Paint palette (you may even use recycled plastic lids or Styrofoam trays, etc.)
  • Paper towels
  • Apron or Paint Shirt
  • Clear plastic sheeting (found in most hardware stores near paint tarps); will be used in the
    transfer process, underneath especially drippy samples while working, on the floor for additional
    drying space & at the end of the class to help in transporting wet samples.
  • Box lids or trays for transporting wet samples
