Salon: “The Art and Symbolism of Tarot,” Thursday, February 1, 6-8pm
Curators: Leslie Nan Moon, Carol Ross
Viewed as an occult practice by some and welcomed as a tool for divination by others, tarot offers an intriguing visual language that began as playing cards centuries ago.
Twenty-two artists were invited to explore the art and symbolism of tarot’s major arcana with the freedom to derive their own interpretation of these key cards. The resulting body of expressive work is infused with layers of meaning, humor, and social commentary.
A limited edition poster will be available at the opening reception..
To expand the conversation around this unique display, join us for the salon event on Thursday, February 1st with Carla Dimitriou.
“Tarot: In the Cards” is the first in a series of events on the concept of fortune leading up to “A Night of Good Fortune” at our 2018 auction on April 14th, which is being held in the art center’s 13th year of operation.
