Writing Artist Statements
It's hard enough to make art, but being required to write about it too can be intimidating. Just because an artist's statement is incomprehensible, it doesn't mean the work is significant or complex! In this workshop, learn the basics of writing concise artist statements. An exercise in identifying your particular style and influences in your work will help you create a statement that truly reflects you and your art. The instructor will guide you through the maze of "artspeak" to say what you mean and mean what you say. Participants will present an artwork and read their new statement at the end of the class. Drop-ins welcome.
