A bona fide "prolific doodler," Judie Hansen is enjoying life-telling stores with her art. Born in Ohio and raised with three sisters by her single mother, Judie's inspirations were all around her. "Not a bare wall in the house" is how she describes the early artistic encouragement of her home environment. She got a taste of public recognition at the tender age of four when she won a toy "Mayflower" moving truck for submitting a drawing to the "Uncle Al" show in Middletown. A pen, pencil, or paintbrush has been within reach for the rest of her life.

Judie describes her work as contemporary eclectic folk art. "I want your eyes to dance across the canvas!" she says. There's always a story happening in each painting or collage, she likes planning out her work before diving in. Her style and techniques are self-taught and have developed over the years into work that features a detailed narrative embellished with color and pattern.

Now living in Bellevue, Washington, Judie travels across the country to spend time with her twin sister, Julie who shares her artistic passion. Their styles collide quite nicely in oversized collages that feature bright colors, bold graphic designs, and interesting textures. Best Buds Art is the name the sisters use when working together on collaborative pieces. Not only do they bounce inspiration off of each other, they also challenge one another's comfort zones. It's a nice package.

Be sure to check Judie's website for a list of her current shows.
