artEAST Exhibitions at Blakely Hall presents Going to the Light, paintings by Dorothy Bonneau.

We are pleased to host the works of artEAST member Dorothy Bonneau in our inaugural exhibition at Blakely Hall. Dorothy’s colorful and textural work captures the light and emotion inherent in landscapes, nature and animals. Her abstract, fish, bird, seascapes and landscape oil paintings are on display in June, followed by an exhibition of barnyard animal paintings starting June 29th. The show will run through July 2013.

Dorothy trained in portraiture under the guidance of Christopher Clark and Constance Miller in Tampa, Florida and also worked with Roman and Constantine Chatov in Atlanta during the 1970’s. Her paintings have been exhibited across the United States and Europe. Dorothy and her husband live and maintain a studio in Redmond. They work collaboratively on ceramic sculpture and individually on paintings.

Saturday & Sunday, June 1 & 2, noon–8 pm

artEAST invites you to celebrate the human figure with dozens of artists who have been part of the 2012–2013 artEAST Figure Drawing Program. This open house will feature nearly one hundred original figure drawings and paintings - framed and unframed – and hung salon style for impact and energy.  Emerging and experienced artists will host the event and share their sketchbooks and portfolios.  Light refreshments served.

artEAST is pleased to collaborate with the Issaquah Highlands Council to host on-going exhibitions at Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands. The Highlands Council seeks to enrich community life through the arts; artEAST’s vision is to be a catalyst for a vibrant and enduring arts community, bringing art activities and exhibitions into the communities we serve. artEAST exhibitions at Blakely Hall offers a bimonthly series of free, rotating exhibitions that offer the community an opportunity to experience a wide range of art and art mediums. Member and guest artists and curators connected to the regional art scene will ensure energy, vitality and freshness of the presentations while celebrating our local artists.

artEAST Exhibitions at Blakely Hall is supported by 4Culture, with additional support from the Issaquah Highlands Council and Lipetz Homes.

The Sammamish Arts Commission invites local artists to apply to take part in the 7th Sammamish Arts Fair, held at Sammamish City Hall. There is a jury selection process in place to ensure the highest quality and unique variety of art mediums.

The Sammamish Arts Fair is an annual Arts Fair, which has grown in reputation to be one of the most anticipated arts events on the Eastside, and it will feature some of the best jury selected local artists together with an exciting program of arts encounters in the adjacent Library and Plaza area.

The Arts Fair is a community-wide cultural art experience, which is produced in partnership with the participating artists and the Sammamish Arts Commission.

Heron Rookery Project 2013

artEAST invites you to submit to Rookery Project 2013!

Washington lakes play host to large populations of the indigenous Great Blue Heron.  artEAST continues to salute our natural ecology and pay homage to this majestic bird and its rookeries by sponsoring a second Heron exhibit. The project began in 2012 with the exhibition of twenty-six 3-D sculptures shown at several Puget Sound venues. Last year all the works were sold in the gallery or donated to the artEAST Annual Auction for fund raising. This year the flock may alight in three different locations, and begins its sojourn at our gallery.

This year we suspend the flock, in a two dimensional format, from the walls. The “canvas” takes the form of one of three different silhouettes scroll-cut by June Sekiguchi from ¼” hardboard. The forms measure approximately 24” x 24”, and will be one of the following shapes:

You may choose your preference: one of the birds in silhouette, or the bird’s shape in negative space cut from the center of a 24” x 24” hardboard square. Note that the negative space images will be small enough to leave a frame around the piece. You will be provided the scroll cut board upon your selection as an exhibitor.

This is a juried show consisting of 12–15 pieces.  Your selection into the show is based upon the quality of your current work.  We are pleased to announce that Meredith Langridge Anderson, Senior Events Manager at Bellevue Arts Museum is our juror.  Meredith has produced the Bellevue Arts Museum ARTSfair since 2009, and has worked directly with Northwest artists since 2005. In addition, she also created Indulge: Jewelry Marketplace and has a deep passion for the arts and promoting local artists!

Submission Guidelines

This is an open call for a juried exhibition. Artists in the greater Puget Sound area are invited to submit.

• Please submit information regarding your website and/or (3) three photographs in the form of jpegs representing your current work.
  
• Materials are limited by the strength of the substrate and the durability of the piece for transport.
• The hardboard silhouette or cut-out is provided to the artist at no charge. Hardboard must be primed.
• The exhibitors reserve the right to not show a piece if they deem it does not adequately reflect the submitted artist quality of work.

Exhibition Expectations

• Pieces must be adequately wired for wall hanging. We cannot accommodate suspended works or stand-alone submissions.
• Artists must sign up for a volunteer job to help with the show.
• A signed Gallery Release form, and an Artist Inventory listing the piece must be presented with your work at intake.
• A current W-9 must be on file or presented during intake for you to be paid sales proceeds 45 days post event.
• All sales will go through the UP Front sales desk.
• A 35% commission fee will be taken on all exhibition sales.
• Purchased artworks will remain on display through the end of the exhibition.
• Artists are responsible for reading and following gallery guidelines and expectations.

1. Provide your website address -OR- prepare your .JPG files to the following specifications:
   • Each file less than 1MB
   • Rename your files with your last name and a number. For example: Doe_01.jpg, Doe_02.jpg.
2. Send us your information. The curators will make every effort to let you know if any information is missing, but it’s your responsibility to ensure that your information is complete.
   • Fill out the form below and upload your image files if necessary. A copy of the completed form will be sent to you via email. If you do not receive a copy then the submission was not successful. If you have any trouble with the form, use an alternate method below to send us your information.

A special sales opportunity for artEAST members: ArtEAST Alley on Alder Street during Downtown Issaquah Association’s Summer Art Walks.

Think of Art Alley as an outdoor artEAST gallery. This is a non-juried opportunity for artEAST members to display and sell their work during Art Walk evenings. ArtEAST closes Alder Street, provides the display grids, tables and manages the sales for you. This popular Alley is a festive place filled with art, music and kids activities. It’s a great place to be and a great member benefit.

This event is open to artEAST artists on a first-come basis: up to 15 artists per event. You can sign up for one or all events, but please be committed so we don’t unnecessarily turn away other artists. We highly encourage a focus on small, well-priced works that are easy to carry. Art purchases tend to be impulse oriented as families and friends are out for an evening stroll in a festive community atmosphere.

artEAST will have a sales desk for cash and credit card sales so you don’t have to staff your art the entire evening or worry about sales, taxes etc. The commission split will be 65% artist/35% artEAST — the same as Collective Works and Market Place events. Please have price tags on all items with the prefix of AEA + your 3 initials.

How to Apply

1. Reserve your space by emailing artalley@arteast.org with the month(s) you want to participate in.
2. WIRE all your art for hanging. The display grids CANNOT accommodate artwork with cleats or claws. There are some tables available for 3-D art.
3. ALL Artists must arrive early & stay a little late to help with setup & cleanup. Setup is at 3:30 pm (you’ll be able to find parking!) and cleanup is at 9:00 pm.
4. Attach price labels to all your art for sale with the following format: AEA-(your 3 initials). For example, Karen Abel might have an item labelled AEA-KJA $55.
5. We need volunteers at the information/sales desk and help with the kid’s project in the Alley too (it’s fun!). Sign up at http://www.volunteersignup.org/3YQ7E.
