2008 artEAST Auction POSTPONED
Dear Friends, Family and Art Supporters
Because of the current economic situation, we've decided to postpone the artEast auction, originally scheduled for October 25th at the Newcastle Golf Club, until early 2009. We apologize if this decision causes any inconvenience to you.
If you purchased tickets to the October 25th event, you will be contacted soon. You can receive a refund or allow artEast to keep the ticket price as a donation.
If you donated an auction item, you will be contacted about our plans.
Rest assured that same beautiful artwork and memorable art experiences will still be available, just at a later date. We will keep you informed as the new event takes shape. We know you won't want to miss the opportunity to add something extraordinary to your art collection.
In the Meantime … Don't Miss Collective Memory
We also want you to know about a wonderful program that was to be discussed at the auction -- the Collective Memory project. During the summer of 2008, sixteen artEAST artists partnered with Issaquah area community members – well-known and obscure, quiet and colorful – who have helped shape the community. The artists honored these citizens by telling the stories of their lives through works in painting, drawing, collage and sculpture.
The generosity of our community member partners in sharing their stories and lives left a lasting impression on the artists and resulted in fifteen wonderfully divergent interpretations and inspired works of art.
The artwork is currently on display until October 25 at the UP Front gallery, 48 Front Street North, in downtown Issaquah. After that date, each artwork will be given to the honored community member. We hope that you will stop by the gallery to see this exhibit. It represents just one of the many ways artEAST is committed to making art an integral part of life in our community and ensure that Issaquah remains a very special place. An exhibition catalog will soon be available through our website.
Thank you for your support of artEAST and programs such as Collective Memory. Donations to sustain our work can be made anytime.
