Teen Handbuilding Ceramics Summer Camp

Monday–Friday Class Full
9am-12pm July 24–28
Ages 11-17

Instructor: Sandra Sinanan

Handbuilding is working with clay by hand, using simple tools. Slab, pinch and coil techniques open up an infinite world of creative possibilities and you’ll get great results fast.

You’ll use all three techniques plus learn about glazes and other surface decorations. You’ll complete several functional and decorative projects and have plenty of time to work on your own ideas.

All materials, glazes & firing included. Pieces will be fired and ready for pick-up 2 weeks after the last class.

Holding a Teaching Artist Certificate from the University of the Arts, Instructor Sandra “Sam” Sinanan has taught art to students of all ages for over 10 years. With a special interest and passion for ceramics, she integrates nature and other disciplines into her art curricula. She provides age-appropriate guidance for every project while also encouraging creativity and self-expression.

*Due to the nature of ceramics, there is no guarantee that the work will survive the firing process. Work left for more than 8 weeks will be cleaned out.

Each student needs to wear studio appropriate clothing. Please bring a nut-free snack and labeled water bottle to each class.

Optional Lunch Bunch available from 12-1pm. Cost is $30 for the week. (If enrolling in both AM & PM camps, then Lunch Bunch fee is waived). Please bring a nut–free sack lunch. MEALS NOT PROVIDED.

Class Fee: $120/members, $130/nonmembers
