Artist Talk: June Sekiguchi

June Sekiguchi: Undercurrent
March 12, 2017, 4:00 pm

Detail shot from A Brave New Hope by June SekiguchiPlease join us for a talk by June Sekiguchi as she shares work, sources, and inspiration after a trip to Cambodia and Laos, and before she heads to Morocco to teach art at a children’s school

June, one of the original founding members of artEAST, has received a 4Culture Art Projects grant, and will be giving three talks during the month of March in between her journeys. Along with travel being an important source of inspiration, the slide presentations will cover her current work for the grant changing her medium from solid to malleable and the sources and inspirations that led to what will be a large scale installation of the draped material in “Undercurrent,” which intersects metaphors of natural geologic forces with human psychological layers.

Come see how June’s work is evolving! If you can’t make it down to Issaquah, June is also speaking on the following dates:

  • March 7 at 7:30pm, University House Wallingford, 4400 Stone Way N, Seattle, WA 98103, 206-545-8400. Contact Tara Kearns for more information.
  • March 14 at 7pm, Columbia City Gallery, 4864 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118, 206-760-9843, contact Shari Kaufman for more information.

This project is supported, in part, by 4Culture.
