Opening Reception Sunday, January 22, 5–6:30 pm, artEAST

Curator: Anna Macrae

artEAST is excited to be partnering with Village Theatre Issaquah, to pay tribute to Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece spy film, The 39 Steps.

Village Theatre strives to provide an influential center of excellence in family theater by producing top quality live performances. artEAST is delighted to bring together the visual arts responding to performance arts for this special open juried exhibition.

The 39 Steps is one of Hitchcock’s classic spy “whodunits”, which includes an exciting chase, murder, romance, and missing fingers. Village Theatre has added their own special twist of pure entertainment, with a riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft. The show will run from Wednesday, January 18 through Sunday, February 26.

Artists were asked to submit a broad range of artwork referencing this fast-paced thriller, by either capturing the classic era of the 1930s or playing with the mystery and magic of theater.
