Encaustic collage incorporates mixed media between translucent layers of beeswax onto two dimensional supports to create a rich and luminous surface. Bring your own fibrous ephemera such as printed images, old book pages, stencils, etc. to layer between encaustic.
The encaustic process involves heat fusing layers of paint together to create smooth and textured finishes. Optional items to bring include: acrylic paint, alcohol ink, gloves (recommended)
Prerequisite: Please register for Deborah Kapoor’s Introduction to Encaustic workshop if you have never tried this medium before. If you want to build on your Encaustic Collage experience then please see Deborah’s two day workshop: Encaustic Sculpture.
A $10 supply fee is included in the cost of class.
Provided: Encaustic station set-up: Electric heat plates, heat guns, encaustic paint and brushes, soy wax, encaustic medium
