As the fall sun moves lower across our sky on its way to the darker days of Northwest winter, the Illuminate exhibition invites artists to throw light on subjects both figuratively and literally.  This two-month show is a celebration of bringing light to the dim and mysterious recesses of our world.

There are two parts to this multifaceted exhibition. On display at Blakely Hall are paintings by invited artists Jim MatthewPatty Haller, and Larry Calkins. There is also a parade of traveling Candelabras that have been fabricated by jury-selected mixed media artists.

In conjunction with Illuminate, eighteen artists were selected to create candelabra-inspired sculptures from diminutive to daunting and in a wide range of styles and techniques. This portion of the exhibit is the result of a unique collaboration between artEAST, the Issaquah Highlands Council and the Green River College Welding Program. The selected artists partnered with welders at Green River College to bring their vision to a medium usually only available in professional welding studios.
