This important community event is an “everyman” auction with affordable options to acquire artwork in a wide variety of mediums. Artworks are donated by art center members and special guests as a strong vote of support for artEAST and the joy that art classes and exhibitions bring to our community. Public bidding and purchases will help raise operating funds for this important local treasure. artEAST operates with enormous volunteer energy but depends greatly on community support to provide arts experiences, workshops, exhibitions, and public events. Grassroots support is essential to keeping the art center as a vibrant part of the community
The Mystery Box of Art is back! New mysteries, new artists, and an incredible instant art collection await you in the 2013 Mystery Box raffle. Our Esteemed Juror
Seattle artist Stephanie Hargrave takes the role of our lead juror. Stephanie has been trained in drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and metal. However, the one medium that affords all the other materials to overlap and inform one another has become her passion: encaustics. Stephanie is an instructor at artEAST Art Center and Pratt Fine Arts Center, and holds workshops in her Georgetown studio. She is represented by the Patricia Rovzar Gallery in Seattle, the Circa Gallery in Minneapolis, and at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta.
Our Very Own Auctioneer!
The final round of bidding frenzy on April 27th will be encouraged by auctioneer and artEAST member Leslie Nan Moon! This ball of energy, award-winning printmaker, illustrator, arts educator and delightful iconoclast is the perfect master of ceremonies for the 150Ft of Art Auction. As Leslie says, she “never met a microphone I didn`t like”, and no one can resist her when she is armed with sound amplification. We look forward to her on-the-spot interviews, auction festivities, and an evening of fun and great art. At artEAST, we enliven our community through the visual arts, our members, our workshops, our gallery, our instructors…and Leslie Nan Moon is the perfect artist-host to celebrate our auction event.
