Maya Andreic has lived in Issaquah for almost 20 years. She comes from the former Yugoslavia, where, at the University of Nis she earned a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature. She has 15 years combined teaching experience, teaching kids and adults, both in a school setting (EFL and Arts) and in corporate America (teaching and implementing Team Building and Lean Processing Techniques). After years spent climbing the corporate ladder and painting oils on canvas as a hobby, Maya decided to dedicate herself 100% to raising her children. 3 years ago she got bitten by the art bug again and realized how much she had missed painting. She once again started painting regularly, but this time it was acrylics on canvas. She refers to her most recent work as ‘happy landscapes’, ‘dressed-up single trees’ and ‘whimsical Seattle-scapes’. The scenes in these paintings are much happier than the reality around us – it is the world she wishes we lived in – free of suffering and evil.
