Ellen Borison

Figurist
Website

A dedicated figurist, Ellen Borison often meditates on drawing while drawing: what makes a drawing strong, what skills or sensibilities are required, and how does one develop those skills and sensibilities. Ellen first studied figure drawing as a teenager, and her approach to teaching hearkens back to that experience. She taught her first figure-drawing class soon after completing a BA in Fine Arts. Subsequently immersing herself in computing (earning a doctorate in the process), she resumed drawing 11 years ago. Since moving to Issaquah in 2005, she has been guiding fellow artists in figure drawing practice through drawing exercises, first at a shared studio, then at the Community Center at Mercer View, and now at the artEAST Art Center.
